It felt like they'd been going for hours. Just trudging along. At least Hollow was trudging...then, why did it feel like she was the one that was moving? That didn't make any sense.
Odd, she couldn't remember how they'd gotten here. Part of her thought that they'd always been here, but another one, a very small but insistant voice, kept saying 'go on...go on...go on...get out...get out...get out...' A voice that was both a apart of her and apart from here.
Hey, that didn't make any sense either.
Mae tried to look around, but whatever had been there, when they passed it seemed to fade away. Not fade away into nothing, it was more like it was fading away from memory, or perhaps into memory. If she tried really hard her eyes could make out vague forms or what had once been forms but, almost as if they knew she was looking at them, scuttled out of the corner of her eye and dissappeared.
Hollow hadn't been acting strange either. That was, he was just walking, forwards...that was it. If she pulled on the reins then he turned or stopped. If she made him go faster he sort of shuffled forwards but soon settled bank into a slow trudge. It was like steering a powered fourwheel bike in the shape of a horse.
What the heck was going on here?
There was a light up ahead. Right now it was just faint, so very faint, but it was there. Mae shifted in the saddle and steered her mount towards it. Maybe it wasn't a good idea but at least it was different from everything she had seen here so far. If only she could remember it.

The lighting in this is SO STUNNING. I am IN LOVE with the way the light divides the picture in two and really frames Hollow.
