Hellion Dark by Maeix2 Hellion Dark by Maeix2
There was a rustle in the grass.

A cold wind swept over the hills. Before it lay summer - behind it little but shivers remained. This wasn't the cold of winter, it was something else, something new.

There were few residents of the valley that didn't take notice. Many heads rose, ears flicking nervously, tails swishing. And in the case of the non equine population, small animals scurried into their dens or burrowed down. Larger predators hissed, moving restlessly, agitated without knowing why.

The grass rustled again.

Suddenly a bird shot up out of the bushes. A black lithe shadow leaped after it.

Her fangs bared, eyes only for her prey, the young filly sprung into the air, snapping after the escaping bird. Managing only a mouthful of feathers, she cantered after it - down the hills - as the bird swooped towards the bottom of the valley.

She spit out the feathers discontently. The mare snorted violently as one managed to catch in a nostril. Tickling her, she started shaking her head, trying to dislodge it. But that and running at the same time downhill turned out to be too much - legs crossing she went down, tumbling over and over.

Eventually coming to a stop further down, Hellion took a moment to collect herself before getting back onto her feet. Shaking herself, the feather rose in the air - to slowly drift down, zig zagging gently.

Sharp fangs closed on it with a snarl. The filly attacked the father with murderous intent. The remains showerd down from her muzzle. She gave the offending article a final snort, tossed her head up and set off at a brisk trot for something fun to do - completely oblivious to whatever was alerting the other denziens of the valley.

Hellion Dark, the newest filly at Darklight Stables. Lithe as a panther, this nightmare/kelpie/demon cross is not someone to come across should you be injured, or percieved as weak. Actually, it's probably best not to come across her at all. She's a handful even for those who knows her.

The nightmares and others of similar nature, will be given a special bit of the valley to roam in - so that they don't pose a danger to the rest of our stable. Far to the west, there's a great rift running across a small portion of the valley and mountains, seperating it from the main block with a chasm so deep there is no visible bottom. Unless they suddenly sprout wings...they should be able to lead a free existence there.

Hey, I was wondering, would you be open to breeding Hellion Dark to one of my stallions? She's such a beauty, and really right down any Daemon's alley as a mare (they could all hold their own as omnivores, I would hope, lol).

Thanks! :)

Aww, glad you like her.

Sure. I'd love to see what could come out of that - apart from the obvious scratches that is :D She likes to nap at things even whens she's being affectionate (not that I've ever seen it)

Your stable sounds really interesting, definately an unusual start :w00t: btw – your stallion links in the journal don’t work, you might want to have a look at that.

just keep in mind that the foal will be a handful. oh, and that the horns/spikes gene is dominant (have a look at her grandsire Depression by Moonfeather) so something will show up.

Let me know which stallion you choose so I can fav him and put the breeding in my journal :aww: and when your pics are done. Other than that, have fun (and make sure to wear some heavy padding just in case :D )

Thank you! I'm going to expand on the story as I update each of my horse's pictures.

Another handful sounds good. :D I was looking forward to the spikes/horns (already thoroughly researched her background, lol), and seeing as how they're both meat eaters, the fangs might come in too.

Eh...which one indeed. I was wondering if you had a preference, as I can picture different foals for each, lol. I'll fix the links (I hope).

Thanks for the heads-up on the links. I've been having a lot of trouble making links work lately...^^;

:aww: That's sounds exciting.

I take my hat off for you (well I would, if I had a hat ;) ) for doing your research.
Wish you the best of luck in getting the kind of foal you're after, I'm sure they'd be well looked after (and spikes are great :giggle: )

:D Thanks!

Pretty sure the stallion will end up being Aurora, as Blaze is gentler than he is...and therefore more likely to be...scratched, lol. Same with Sorrow, as he and his sister were raised from foals...>.<

This will be an interesting foal...I can just see it now O.o.

Putting all the genes together, unnatural and otherwise, and getting a fantastic foal. :)

I did find it interesting that both sides have the extra long legs. :D This little filly is going to be just what I was looking for.

O.o You have no idea how odd it is to see Aurora up next to your fantastic pictures. (He looks positively...simple.) I'll have to work on that. :)

The breeding pic is done, so I just need to post that and finish the sketch of Hell's Faire as a foal. (That's her name, lol.)

One adult pic upcoming as well.

Well isn't she a stunning little hellraiser! Hehehe. I'm very impressed and, though she'd hate to admit it, I bet Quoth is too. :D

I'd pet her - but I like my arms intact :D
Thanks - I'm very happy with her. Precisely what my stable needed.

She's the first of the three youngest isn't she? With four older sisters like that, it's a lot to live up to :giggle:

I do hope that Quoth is suitably satisfied with her choice of stallion. I'm certainly going to keep my eye out for her next foals, to see what they'll be like :XD:

and :thanks: for the :+fav: too :w00t:

You're most welcome. I'm going to have fun drawing her that's for sure. I can't wait for the other two, really... all of her foals have turned out amazing so far! I'm so impressed with the HARPG members. :D

You do get their personalities in the picture...I'm terrible - can't draw the same horse twice and make them look the same ^^;

I'm sure it wont be long - she's an impressive mare. And it's been a lucky thing to find such good 'homes' for her offspring - so to speak :aww:

Thank you. :D Although, I think you do get the horses the same, or you're certainly not at all terrible... in all of Hollow's Fall's pieces, he looks the same to me. I could be crazy though. :o

:aww: :blushes: Thanks. *chuckles* it's easier with horses with strong characteristics...like x numbers of horns, or specific markings - you tend to look at them rather than the rest of the horse.
